If the DA is so strong, why can’t we go on as is?

There is a continual influx from the Eastern Cape and other areas. The majority of these new arrivals are ANC supporters. If any of them change their party loyalties they are likely to support a party that is similar to the ANC. This means that the ANC is going to get stronger and stronger. When the ANC ultimately gets a majority the DA will have little chance of regaining power. In Port Elizabeth, Johannesberg and Pretoria they came into power as part of coalitions under very special circumstances. In Johannesberg the coalition fell apart and the DA lost power. The same has happened in Port Elizabeth although later on the DA came back into power after putting together a new coalition, but the coalition is shaky. In Pretoria their hold on power is very tenuous and they are constantly i danger of been ousted.
