Media release by Cape Independence Movement 22 May 2011
From the outset Cape Independence Movement ( CIM ) has always believed
that independence for the Cape will not be obtained by means of a political
party. The reason for this is that voters would prefer to vote for the DA in
order to keep the ANC out of power. In the recent local government elections
the results have confirmed that our standpoint was correct. In fact we have
been proved to be even more correct than we expected. There has been a
dramatic swing away from the small parties to the DA in particular. This does
not mean that all who voted for the DA actually support the policies of the DA.
For a great number of these voters, the greatest priority was to keep the ANC
out of power.
